Our Future
Our long-term vision is to create a research precinct at The Wesley Hospital.
Our precinct will focus on linking clinicians and their patients with scientists.
Based on the concept of the Mayo Clinic in the United States, our goal is to improve outcomes for patients in health care facilities everywhere through innovative research.
Through our growth we’ll build a healthier, happier community by:
- Tripling the amount of research we can do
- Bringing together up to five times as many clinicians and scientists by better engaging clinicians and allied health professionals at all Uniting HealthCare hospitals in Queensland
- Developing stronger ties to enable more collaboration with other research facilities AND saving money by not duplicating resources, facilities or research
- Growing our resources and clinical networks so we can apply research findings to your diagnosis and treatment faster
Our research precinct will include:
- Queensland’s largest purpose-built Tissue Bank to store tumour tissue for research purposes
- A state-of the-art Clinical Trials Centre to ensure the latest safe and effective treatments are made available sooner
- The Health and Medical Research Centre, dedicated to translating basic scientific findings into improved health care practices.
- An Administration Centre for supporting research, raising money to fund research and communicating important findings to the community
